Gracias, Courtas

Thanks to Courtney for the use of her computer while mine is in Pittsburgh... I hope she has a most excellent time in South America (Paraguay, Argentina). I told her she should "guest blog" on here after she returns. As for Art Camp, things are going swimmingly... Last night's karaoke party (complete with MOCKtails) was absolutely a great time. Songs I sang: "The Weight" (by the Band, attempted in the style of the Staples Singers from "The Last Waltz") and "Manic Monday" (by the Bangles, unfortunately the students didn't know the song and barely knew the Bangles), "Banana Boat" (Harry Belafonte, this was our finale group song before returning to the hotel). Of course I belted along, front row-style, to nearly every other song being sung. I think I have finally overcome my fear of karaoke. Wonderful! Additionally, it was rad to see some up and coming rockstars emerge in their karaoke glory. My coworkers and some students have given me their permission to post their pics... let's see if I can swing that.

Ok, getting this pic up took me long enough, so the rest will come when I'm not raging... This is a photo (courtesy of Jay) of Ty, David, Jeremy, Me, Scott Ford. That's Team Portland, post-karaoke

Please don't restage me.

I'm not going to have a computer for a bit, as I've sent mine to be "restaged." I have no idea what that means. Doesn't matter though, because I'm real bizzzzay chillin' wit da teenagers, art camp style. It's real fly. Fo' reals. Word. Peace out.

BTdubs, the bathroom of my hotel room is painted neon pink... Keep your pants on, because I have a pic of that for you ASAP.

What a week!

So many changes this week! Most importantly, the debute of my first blog... wowzers, I hope I can keep this thing interesting. Thanks to the bloggers who have come before me- mainly Anton and Steph - I promise to link to your blogs once I figure out how. Also, this end of June finds me with a fresh new set of wheels, a new bed, a fantastic new bookshelf (thanks, Ty!), and a serious new method of small-space organization. Hopefully my homebase will be a little easier to come and go from now. After a grand trip to the southern Oregon Coast last week, I am working in town for a short bit now and gearing up for some major PacNW travel (Alaska, San Juan Islands, Victoria, Olympic Peninsula). I hope this blog will encourage me to take more pictures and become a wiser, more thoughtful traveler.

Although Lucy's contribution to the blog will be minimal, she's great in front of the camera... do not fret, I have about a zillion pictures of her doing everything from surfing to camping. You'll be the first to know when I figure out how to post pics on here. Cheers!
