AK part 2

Snow River Hostel (near Seward on the Kenai):

Kenai Fjords National Park:

Without going into detail, we had a much less than desireable experience acquiring our rental car. At first we were given a pickup with monster truck wheels. After that they tried to give us a two-door, 5 speed Escort Coup. After much aggrivation, we settled on this Kia that would not go over 60 mph:

AK

Hiya from Anchorage, AK! My internet access has been unpredictable at best so more pics will come after I get back to Seattle. Top five most memorable experiences so far:

1. Watching mom tumble head over heels down a moving escalator at the airport. Terrifying.
2. Rafting down Nenana River near Denali - our tour guide graduated from Ripon College and my mom was his personal banker. That was pretty wild.
3. M.O.D. aka Manager on Duty aka Breezy Nielsen. My sis and her friends basically run the resort outside of Denali National Park.
4. The roadtrip down the Kenai peninsula and ending up at the most charming little hostel.
5. The boat trip out of Seward, with a stopover at Fox Island. Here are a couple pics from that ride.

Brown Goat, Black Goat

My soon-to-be ex-roomate/landlord just rented one of the open bedrooms in the house to a girl who just bought two dwarf goats. They are crazy cute but very whiney. Apparently they've already escaped from the backyard and they just arrived yesterday. This is a picture of them itching their heads.

Autumn's first trip to Portland

Ryan and Autumn came down from Ocras Island for the weekend. We went to the Bodyworld exhibit at OMSI, drove through the Gorge, visited a vineyard, saw great music at the Blues Festival downtown, camped in the backyard, played lots of Scrabble and hung out at the dog park. Jamie, Jesse and Chuck D (the big white dog) joined us on some of the adventure. Ahhh, wholesome.

Happy 7/7/7 and happy GOLDEN birthday (yes, he's 7 today) to Harley, my favorite Dachshund.

Westside Gals

Lucy and I are moving! We are going from the SE to the NW part of town... It's actually on the west side of Forest Park (the largest urban forest in the US), so the hiking will be fantastic. The house is on an acre with fruit trees and a fire pit, and I'll have the master bedroom (hardwood floors, two closets). We move in after our vacation on July 31st. Here's a pic of the backyard and my bedroom window.

Ft. Lewis Family Fun with Madison and Landon

I spent this past weekend at Ft. Lewis, babysitting the kiddos while [a very pregnant] Amy was away in Seattle. Madison is such a good big sister to Landon and she is sooo excited for her new baby sister. Oh yeah, we locked ourselves out of the house, so she she had to ninja in through the top of the screen door I had to cut open (sorry, Rob). The picture below of Landon and I was actually taken by Madison. At the bottom you can see Madison holding her pillow with Rob's picture on it, so every night before bed they can give their Daddy a kiss goodnight.
